Configuring Activity Attributes

As an administrator, you create attributes and attach them to activity type groups and activity types. When users create or edit activities in Campaign Management, those activities display the attached attributes (according to their activity type) for data entry.

Attribute Inheritance

In the hierarchy, activities inherit all attributes of activities above them in the hierarchy (ancestors), along with their attribute values. To avoid inconsistencies due to multiple defined values for an attribute, an attribute can only be used once in a branch of the activity hierarcy. As a result, you can't create an activity rule where a child activity has the same attribute as a parent activity.

Available Attribute Types

Uptempo Campaign Management supports a variety of different attribute types for different kinds of data:

Attribute Properties

In addition to the type, attributes have the following properties:

  • Name: The display label of the attribute.

  • Help Text: The configured text is shown when users place the point er on the attribute's info icon .

  • List Options: For Drop-down list and Multi-select list attributes, the list of available options.

Note

You cannot change the type of an attribute after it has been created.

The Data Category and Date Range fields are also displayed in the details of the attribute properties. These properties currently have no function.

Display Order in the Details Panel

Attributes are displayed in an activity's Details Panel according to their order in Activity Configuration > Attribute Definitions. You can change the display order of the attributes on the Attribute Definition page using drag-and-drop.

Attribute Dependencies

If two Drop-Down List or Multi-Select List attributes are logically related, you can create an attribute dependency to link them. In an attribute dependency, the value selected for the first attribute (the controlling attribute) determines which values can be selected in the second attribute (the dependent attribute).

For more information, see Attribute Dependencies.
